About us

Kaj Björk is a Finnish development economist who works as an entrepreneur within his recently-formed and registered development consultancy company.

He is very well qualified to play a significant role in any major multi-sector development project, whether this is national, regional or global in scope. His fields are development and finance.

He has worked  25 years abroad, 18 years in seven different countries in Africa, 3 years in the Middle East,  and 3 years in two Mekong region countries in the Far East. He has travelled extensively in the Americas,  South -and North America and the Pacific region; and in Europe.

His employers and  institutions that he has worked for/with  are:  Ministry for Foreign Affairs, Finland, specialized UN agencies: UNDP, UNIDO, UNICEF, UNHCR, FAO, WORLD BANK, AfDB, ADB, Nile Basin Commission, NBI,  the Mekong River Commission, MRCS and FARA, NGOs  FRC & IFRC,  He has also worked for and with  the   and  European Commission, for small- and medium - size companies, SMEs and a big stock-exchange listed manufacturing industrial company Wärtsilä in Finland.

All this experience has made him a global-level player. He is most effective in management and leadership positions in any of the phases of a project's cycle: from the identification of the project, through its implementation, and finally the assessment of its impact. However, he is also ready to work on grass-roots level when necessary. He is familiar with the rules and procedures of most of the abovementioned international finance institutions. Further, his PhD study, 'What explains Development": "Development Strategy for Low Human Development Index Countries'  has been widely recognized  by   academic research communities,   high level civil servants  and leaders of  international institutions  These achievements and  his extensive  network of colleagues  and partners  enable him  to  get new initiatives started  effectively.

His language skills include a working knowledge of English, Spanish, and the basics of French, in addition to his native bilingual Swedish and Finnish.
